In the Tradition

In Sanskrit Kesar is called Kumkuma, and it gives its name to Kumkumadi Tailam, one of the best known facial oils of Ayurveda.

Classical texts count it among the Varnya dravyas, herbs traditionally used to support radiance and complexion.

It has also long been used in small amounts in milk and sweets in Indian homes.

Our Kesar comes from Kashmir, the traditional home of Indian saffron.

It is added in small, measured amounts and prepared according to the classical protocol of each formulation.
